Peter Aghahowa
Peter Aghahowa is the Director and Lead Consultant at Retirement Insights Consultants Limited, bringing more than three decades of experience in Nigeria’s financial sector and over 17 years of specialised expertise in the pension industry. A seasoned regulator, strategist, and organisational leader, Peter has played a pivotal role in shaping governance standards and driving innovation within the nation’s pension landscape.
Peter began his professional career at the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), where he rose to the position of Senior Manager. In 2007, he joined the National Pension Commission (PenCom), Nigeria’s regulatory authority for pension administration. During his distinguished 17-year tenure at PenCom, he led multiple critical departments, serving as Head of the Inspection and Investigation Unit; Head of the Micro Pension Department; Head of Corporate Communications; and Head of Research and Strategy Management. Across these roles, he developed a strong reputation for excellence in governance review, regulatory compliance, institutional communication, and long-term strategic planning.
A committed scholar-practitioner, Peter earned his first degree from the University of Benin and holds an MBA from Delta State University. His academic foundation is enriched by extensive global executive education. He has completed high-level leadership, governance, and operational programmes at world-renowned institutions, including the Wharton Executive Education (University of Pennsylvania), Darden School of Business, Toronto Centre, Columbia University, Chicago Booth School of Business, Kellogg School of Management, London Management School, London School of Public Relations, and Regent College London.
