Alhaji Dr. Aliko Mohammad Dangote, GCON is a Nigerian industrialist, business magnate, and philanthropist, widely regarded as one of Africa’s most influential economic leaders. He is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Dangote Group, one of Africa’s largest and most diversified conglomerates, with interests in cement, sugar, salt, petrochemicals, agriculture, and logistics.

In 2025, he expanded his global footprint with the acquisition of Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club in England, further demonstrating his commitment to investing beyond traditional sectors.

A passionate contributor to Nigeria’s industrial growth, Alhaji Dangote was awarded the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) in 2011 by President Goodluck Jonathan — one of the highest national honors. In 2014, he was named one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World.

Education and Early Life

Born in Kano, Nigeria, Alhaji Dangote attended Government College, Birnin Kudu, before earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies and Administration from the prestigious Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt.
